Rabiat gehts auch beim Debut von Tesa zu, wenn auch mit Verschnaufpausen zwischendrin. Immer wieder unterbrechen die drei Letten ihre brutalen Riffs und ihr Schlagzeuggewitter, um ein paar wunderschön melancholische Parts aus dem Ärmel zu schütteln. Irgendwo zwischen dem Wall Of Sound bei Isis und dem brutalen geschredde und gekreische von The Ocean zu Aeolian-Zeiten haben sich Tesa angesiedelt und anscheinend gefällt es ihnen dort sehr gut.
Die 7 Parts von Tagad (Parts 17, 27, 37, 47, 57, 67, 77) gehen fließend ineinander über, ergeben ein homogenes ganzes. Der Opener Part 17 legt gleich mit einer unglaublichen Brutalität los, die einen sofort mitten in die EP schleudert, nur um mit Parts 27 & 37 gleich wieder das Tempo rauszunehmen und den Zuhörer mit ein paar dieser oben schon erwähnten Melodien zu verwöhnen. Part 47 ist dann ein relativ kurzes Interlude (1:08) das wieder mächtig Gas gibt und Stimmung für das Kernstück dieser EP aufbaut.
Part 57 stellt sowohl das längste (6:52), als auch das ausgewogenste und, meiner Meinung nach, beste Stück dieses Debuts dar. Es beginnt mit einem langsamen Aufbau, der ca. 4 Minuten dauert, nur um dann so richtig loszulegen. Der Sänger brüllt sich die Seele aus dem Leib (From ashes we rise / to ashes we become / from ashes to ashes) und beschreibt damit auch die Grundstimmung des Albums. Dunkel, düster mit ein paar einzelnen Lichtblicken zwischendurch.
Parts 67 & 77 sind dann sozusagen nochmal die Quintessenz aus den vorherigen Parts und beenden die EP würdig. In Part 77 gibt es dann auch noch ein paar elektrische Spielereien... generell könnte dieser Song in dieser Form auch sehr gut von Cult Of Luna stammen, ein bischen kurz wäre er vielleicht (bei CoL hätte der selbe Song wahrscheinlich ungefähr 10 Minuten gedauert... damit hätte ich jedoch auch kein Problem gehabt). Wie es der Name schon andeutet geht der Song Part 77 direkt über in den Opener der nachfolgenden EP Nekad (Part 87).
Also, wenn ihr Nekad schon angehört habt, holt euch Tagad, auch wenn diese teilweise noch um einiges brutaler und direkter ist wie ihr Nachfolger. Ich persönlich freu mich schon auf die erste LP, Heartbeatsfromthesky, und euch wünsche ich noch viel Spass beim Anhören.

The three guys from Latvia deliver a very harsh debut interspersed with islands of melancholy and harmony. Every now and then they call their brutal riffs and their thunderous drums to a halt just to add some of the most beautyful melodies to their creations. Somewhere between Isis' wall of sound and The Ocean's sonic destruction from their Aeolian album there are Tesa... and they like exactly where they are.
Tagad's seven parts (Parts 17, 27, 37, 47, 57, 67, 77) sound as they were once only one track, seperated into seven parts at the end of the mixing process. Part 17 starts off with an unprecedented harshness that catches you off guard and puts you right in the midlle of what's happening. Parts 27 & 37 then lull you in with their harmonies and their beautiful melodies, only to hit you again with the very short Part 47 (it's only about one minute long) that sets the mood for what's about to come.
Part 57, with its 6:52 the longest and, in my honest opinion, the best song on this EP starts off very slow, building up tension for about four minutes only to explode into vicious riffs and the singer screaming "From ashes we rise / to ashes we become / from ashes to ashes". This summarizes all the emotions on this realease perfectly: Tagad is dark and sinister, but still somewhere in there is some light and hope.
Parts 67 & 77 end this EP in way this release deserves, once again showing us the best of what Tesa have to offer. Part 77 even has some electronics and, thinking about it, could have been written and performed by Cult of Luna although it would be a little short then (if it were a CoL song, it would last for about 10 minutes... which wouldn' t be a problem for me at all). The hame Part 77 already hints at the fact that it kind of goes together with Part 87 from thei 2007 release Nekad.
So if you have already listened to Nekad and liked it, dowload your copy of Tagad now... but I have to warn you, Tagad is more brutal and direct then Nekad. I personally am looking forward to getting their 2008 LP Heartbeatsfromthesky. Have fun listening to this all you peolpe out there.

Great album, great band! I hope, I'll find someday their newest record lossless encoded.
I'm from Latvia and, in my opinion, Tesa's the best latvian group. You should get your hands on Heartbeatsinthesky really fast, because it's an excellent EP.
i think you'll find it soon. one of the band told me that they will also release the new cd for free download in the near future. and i think they will also release it in flac because tagad and nekad are also available in flac on their homepage http://tesaband.lv/?page_id=3
