Epigram - Anything That Comes To Mind (2009)

Explosions in The Sky? Nein, Epigram! Die Ähnlichkeit ist dennoch verblüffend. Gefühlvoller kann man Gitarrensaiten nicht anspielen. Melodien, die verzaubern. Arrangements, die Gänsehaut erzeugen. Drums, die mit Kreativität punkten. Alles in Allem ein super Album, das vor Abwechslung und Verspieltheit nur so glänzt. Der Song, der für mich aber am meisten heraussticht ist „Always An Uncomfortable Silence“. Dieser Song klingt so, als hätten sich EITS mit EF auf ein Bierchen getroffen und anschließend gejammt. Ich muss zugeben, dass dieses Meisterwerk, mir die Chance genommen hat mich auf die anderen Tracks zu konzentrieren. Perfekter kann ein Post-Rock-Titel nicht sein.

Die 4 Musiker aus Kanada beweisen aber auch auf dem Rest von Anything That Comes To Mind Weltklasse, und können durchaus mit den ganz Großen des Genres mithalten. Ich hoffe auch, dass dies von den Hörern anerkannt wird, denn sie haben es verdient.

Explosions In The Sky? No, Epigram! Still, similarities are astonishing. There is no way to pick guitar strings more emotively. Enchanting melodies. Goose-bump creating arangements. Drums scoring through creativity. All in all this a superb album, sparkling with variety and playfulness. The song whichs stands out the most for me is „Always An Uncomfortable Silence“. This one sounds as if EITS and EF meet up together, having a beer and jamming afterwards. Honestly, this masterpiece somehow took away my chance to concentrate on the other tracks. The perfect post-rock song.

However, fhe four musicians from Canada prove to be world-class on the rest of the album as well, so that they can easily keep up with big players of the instrumental genre. I also hope that this is acclaimed by the listener too, for the band deserves it.
