Santa Cruz, Kalifornien. Bei vielen Post Rock Bands wird der Bass heruntergedreht bis zur Grenze des Unhörbaren, oftmals kann man ihn höchstens noch ein wenig erfühlen. Der Bassist scheint gezwungen frustriert die Grundtöne auf die eins zu knallen, während die Gitarren, Delay und Reverb Pedale der heilige Gral sind, den jeder erreichen zu versucht. Im Falle der Eastern Approaches aber gelingt es dem Bassisten mit seinen Läufen aufzutrumpfen und spielt dabei die beiden Gitarristen locker an die Wand. Mit oder ohne Delay.

Santa Cruz, California. Most Postrock bands turn down the bass to the edge of the inaudible; sometimes you are just able to sense it a little bit. The bassist seems forced to bang the root note on one, while the guitars, delay and reverb are the holy grail everyone tries to reach. In the Eastern Approaches’ case, however, the bassist manages to shine with his runs and out acts the two guitar players easily. With or without delay.
