Wenn Namen überflüssig werden.Oftmals ist ehrliche Musik schwer zu finden. Nachdem ich aber bei Sky Flying By, einem Post Rock Projekt aus Massachusetts, reingehört habe, wusste ich schnell womit ich es da zu tun habe: Musik, die aus Spaß an der Sache entstanden ist.
Auf How much more difficult will this get? finden sich sechs energiegeladene Lieder, die zwar nicht vor Kreativität strotzen, dennoch ein wunderbares Gefühl von Optimismus und Lebensfreude ausstrahlen. Besonders die Drums klingen erfrischend und auf den Punkt gebracht, ihre Umarmung mit dem knackigen Bass ist von der ersten bis zur letzten Sekunde perfekt gelungen, während die Gitarren sich, mal mächtig, mal demütig, drumherum aufbauen.
Über Sky Flying By werden im Internet bewussterweise keine biographischen Details preisgegeben. Ein kurzes Statement dazu lautet: "You don’t know my name, and that’s the way it will stay. My music will remain as anonymous as possible. I’m not a name." Nachdem ich dann die sechs, circa 6 Minuten langen Lieder mehrmals genossen habe - vom krachigen Remembering Forgotten Toys, über das melodiöse und atemberaubende Zero Dead Wounded One bis hin zum elektronischeren They Still Make Lighthouses - habe ich mich dabei vermehrt unaufhaltsam in der Musik verloren. Ich bin dann zum Entschluss gekommen, dass Sky Flying By keinen weiteren Namen, der dahinter steckt braucht. Hört euch die CD an und lasst die Musik für sich sprechen: Denn anstelle eines Namens wird einem hier viel mehr über die Persönlichkeit eines Menschen anvertraut.

When names become reduntant.
Often it's hard to find honest music. After I listened to Sky Flying By, a Massachusetts-based Post Rock Project, I quickly knew what I was dealing with: Music, that resulted from pure pleasure to the thing itself - art for the art's sake.
How much more difficult will this get? offers six energetic songs, which might not brim over with creativity, but at the same time, manage to exude a wonderful feeling of optimism and joie de vivre. Especially the drums sound refreshing and on the spot, their embracement with the crispy bass succeded from the first to the last second of the record, while the guitars are builded up around it - at times mightfully, at times humbly.
Intentionally, there are no biographical details about Sky Flying By to be found on the internet. There is a short statement about this instead: "You don’t know my name, and that’s the way it will stay. My music will remain as anonymous as possible. I’m not a name." After I enjoyed the six, approximately 6 minute long songs for several times - from the crashing Remembering Forgotten Toys, across the melodious and breath-taking Zero Dead Wounded One to the more electronic They Still Make Lighthouses - I unstoppably lost myself in the music a few times. I then arrived at the decision that Sky Flying By won't need another name that's behind it. Listen to the CD, and let the music speak for itself: Because instead of a name, you're intrusted with a lot more about the personality of a human being.
