Jazz Street Trio - Because (2009)

Das Trio welches keines ist macht Jazz mit Bass, Schlagzeug Klavier welche alle von einem Keyboard stammen. Die Ein-Mann-Jazz-Combo ist schon faszinierend. Eine Person die mit sich selbst Jazz macht. Jazz der richtig schön ist. Jonas der letzte Detektiv wäre begeistert, würde sich mit einem Glas Whiskey zurück lehnen und in Erinnerungen an Humphrey schwelgen. An die guten alten Schwarz/Weiß Zeiten. An verregnete, trübe Tage an denen man sich entspannt der Sentimentalität ergibt. Man hört es flüstern „Spiel es noch einmal Sam“.

Genau das wünsche ich mir von einer Jazz Scheibe. Genau das zeichnet einen Roberto Gatto aus, der nicht so sentimental wie das Jazz Street Trio sondern etwas fröhlicher, aber emotional in den gleichen Gefilden unterwegs ist. Würden die grandiosen Bohren & Der Club of Gore ein bisschen mehr Kaffee trinken und weniger Zeit in absoluter Dunkelheit verbringen, sie würden wohl diese Musik machen.

A trio that’s not a trio making Jazz with base guitar, drums and piano which come all from one keyboard. The “one-man-jazz-combo” is really fascinating. He’s creating jazz music. Beautiful Jazz. Rick Blaine would be thrilled, he would lean back with a glass of whiskey, listening to the sounds, reminding the days back then. The good old days of the mono film. He would remember rainy, dusty days on which you relax and drown yourself in sentimentality. You can hear it whispering “Play it Sam”.

Exactly this is what I expect from a jazz record. Exactly this is what makes a Roberto Gatto, who is less sentimental, and happier but in the same context, special. Would the great Bohren & Der Club of Gore drink at least one cup of coffee each day and spend less of their time in darkness, this could be the kind of music they’d create.
