Finneyerkes is a two man project from Alabama/Virginia, USA. They are influenced by many different artists especially in the post-rock genre (such as Godspeed You! Black Emperor or Mogwai) and films as well as soundtracks.
Finneyerkes create wide soundscapes which leave enough space to drift away but still catch the listener's breath. The electronic elements are as different as possible from each other, there are ambiental, spacy tabs and in the same songs, suddenly, noisy sounds and even some techno elements. They also use guitars and a lot of sad spoken words which complete the atmosphere of Finneyerkes. The ambience is melancholic - especially when the guitar comes in, this is something which haunts me a shiver over my back!
Finneyerkes is very different from other electronica bands, the post-rock influences are visible and sometimes reminded me on the calmy parts of French Teen Idol. The diversion is well to see between the two tracks Jacob and I am the Spy, where sad guitar tones meet dazzled electronica-elements.
You almost HAVE TO try Finneyerkes, because they have a song for every lonely heart out there! Good work, carry on.
The Ludovico Technique ist ein Split zweier recht verschiedener Bands, die dem gleichen Netlabel, WiseOwlRecords angehören. cssc ist mehrheitlich dem elektronischen Post-Rock zuzuordnen mit gewissen Ähnlichkeiten zu The Album Leaf oder Lymbyc Systym. Das ganze wirkt recht technisch und die Drums hören sich auch ein bisschen nach Math an, kombiniert mit wunderschönen Post-Rock typischen Gitarren. Jacob Harris bewegt sich dagegen eher zwischen ruhigeren, ambientalen Klängen und ebenfalls Post-Rock typischen Melodien. Die Split-EP ist ein sehr interessanter Einblick in die Arbeit der zwei Solokünstler.
cssc's Teil von The Ludovico Technique beginnt mit I must be Numb. Ein Stück das getragen wird von einem intensiven Basslauf, der seines Zeichens eigentlich die ganze Zeit den gleichen Ton in diversen Rythmen spielt. Darüber werden nüchterne Gitarren gelegt und dezente Drums. Elektronika Elemente bestimmen den zweiten Song Blighted. Das Piano und ein Synth-Drum kommen hinzu und verwandelt das ganze in ein melancholisches Stück, welches aber gleichzeitig das technischste der ganzen CD ist. Bright little Things ist der Song der am meisten dem Post-Rock entspricht und nochmal dieses nüchterne und sterile wiederspiegelt, das cssc auszeichnet. Ein sehr spezielles Projekt, wirklich einmalig und sehr cool.
Jacob Harris beginnt mit eher sphärischen Tönen. Hallende Gitarren und eine monotone und dennoch wunderschöne Melodie spielen sich ab, das Sample zu Beginn verdeutlich dises Stimmung und machen A Dream within a Dream zu einem Meisterwerk der Ambientalen Rockmusik. Ruhig und beherrscht geht es auch weiter, derselbe Gitarrenlauf wird aufbauend durch andere Elemente ergänzt und bleibt bis am Ende ohne Drums. Serenade for lost Leader beginnt elektronisch und noisy, drony, wird bald durch einen sterilen Gitarrenlauf ergänzt und wirkt als Interludium, um den nächsten Song Soundproof einzuleiten. Dieser beginnt ebenfalls recht elektronisch, experimentell und speziell. Der Song behält diesen experimentellen Touch, komplett durch Xylophon und Samples. Ebenfalls eine sehr gelungene Arbeit und eine der schönsten Splits, die ich je gehört habe!
The Ludovico Technique is a split of two very different bands from the same Netlabel, WiseOwlRecords. Cssc is mostly electronic post-rock with influences of The Album Leaf or Lymbyc Systym. The whole thing appears technical to me and the drums sound kind of math-like, combined with wonderful post-rock typical guitars. Jacob Harris for his part moves between calm, ambiental sounds and also post-rock typical melodies. The split-EP is an interesting insight to the work of the two solo-artists.
cssc’s part of The Ludovico Technique starts with I must be Numb. A piece carried by an intensive bassline, for his sign playing the same tone the whole track long in different rythms. Over that, there are guitarlines with a sober sound and discreet drums. Electronica elements describe the second song Blighted. The piano and a synth-drum come in and makes the whole thing a melancholic piece, which is at the same time the most technical of the CD. Bright little Things is the song which compares the most to typical post-rock and mirrors again this sober and sterile atmosphere, which is also typical for cssc. A very special project, very unique and cool.
Jacob Harris starts with spherical tones. Reverberant guitars and a monotonous but still wonderful melody play, the sample comes in at the beginning and enforces this constant feeling and make A Dream within a Dream a masterpiece of ambiental rock music. Calmly and seriously it goes on, the same guitarline is completed by different elements and stays without drums until the end. Serenade for Lost Leader stars with electronic, noise and drone, gets soon removed by a sterile guitarline and appears as interludium to introduce the next song Soundproof. This one starts electronic again, experimental and very special. The song keeps its experimental touch, completed by xylophone and samples. Also a very good work and one of the most enjoyable splits I’ve ever heard!

Solaire ist eine holländische Post-Rock Band, bestehend aus fünf Mitgliedern, die sowas wie den instrumentalen Post-Rock à la Explosions in the Sky vermischt mit den experimentellen und melancholischen Momenten EF's auf Give me Beauty... or give me Death!
Der erste Song, Ming's Pretty Years beginnt dementsprechend auch recht ähnlich wie z.B. This Will Destroy You, mit delayed Gitarren, viel Hall und Snare-basierten Drums. Der Song nimmt eine wunderschöne Entwicklung und findet etwas sehr eigenes, beinhaltet aber dennoch eine gewisse Anlehnung an die oben erwähnten EF. Das zweite Stück startet mit einem Sample, das meiner Meinung ein bisschen zu dominant wirkt und entwickelt sich dann in einem plätschernden Fluss zu einem Gemisch zwischen Post-Rock und Instrumental Rock, was mir sehr gefällt. Der letzte Song der EP, The Great Went ist der speziellste der Platte, er erinnert mich von Beginn bis Ende an keine andere Band als Solaire. Er hat etwas dunkles, sehr atmosphärisches und beeindruckt in gerade mal vier Minuten mit makellosem Post-Rock. In der zweiten Hälfte des Songs kühlt das ganze wieder runter, die Atmosphäre bleibt allerdings und ein Sample kommt dazu. Ein wunderschöner Song um diese EP gelungen abzuschliessen.
Fazit: Solaire sind eine sehr ambitionierte Band mit Auftstiegsmöglichkeiten, verbessert werden könnte die Soundqualität sowie die Originalität, die im letzten Stück allerdings (zum Positiven!) aufblitzt. Weiter so!
Solaire is a Dutch post-rock band, including 5 members, who play somewhat like instrumental post-rock just as Explosions in the Sky, mixed with the experimental and atmospheric, melancholic parts of EF's Give me Beauty... or give me Death!
The first song, Ming's pretty Years, starts pretty similar to, for example, a This Will Destroy You song, with delayed guitars, a lot of reverb and snare-based drums. The song takes a wunderful development and finds something very own, but still includes a similarity to the above mentioned EF. The second track starts with a sample that is, in my opinion, slightly too loud and comes in a floating stream to a mix between post-rock and instrumental rock, which I definetly like. The last song of the EP, The great Went is the most unique of the CD, he just reminds me, from the beginning until the end, on Solaire, pure Solaire. It has something dark, very atmospheric and improves mistakeless post-rock in just 4 minutes. In the second half-time of the song, the whole thing cools down, the atmosphere stays and a sample comes in, a wunderful song and a perfekt ending.
Conclusion: Solaire are a very ambitioned band with a lot of possibilities to climb up the post-rock genre. The sound quality could be better as well as the originality, which they improve in the last song though. Good work, keep it up!

"The Times They Are A-Changing" sang Bob Dylan 1963, um die revolutionäre Stimmung von damals in Worte zu fassen. "Tempora mutandur, nos et mutamus in illis" sagen Deviniance im Jahre 2009, "Die Zeiten ändern sich und wir ändern uns mit ihnen", eine nicht ganz so positive Botschaft wie noch vor 40 Jahren. Aber hier ist nicht nur der Titel dieser EP bedrückend, sondern auch die Stimmung, die auf diesem Sludge/Post Rock/Metal-Mix vorherrscht.
Ein elektronisches Intro mit Sprachsamples, zwei Tracks voll von Aggression und Wut und dann alles nochmal live... mehr braucht man nicht, um sich vom Können der Band zu überzeugen. Vor allem die Liveaufnahmen überzeugen trotz schlechterer Aufnahmequalität auf Grund der Energie, die in den 5 Jungs aus Nyköping, Schweden steckt. Unbedingt mal reinhören!
In 1963, Bob Dylan sang the line "The times they are a-changing" to sum up the hint of revolution that was in the air. In the year 2009, Deviniance say "Tempora mutandur, nos et mutamus in illis", which loosely translates to "The times are changing and so are we" and that isn't remotely as optimistic as "The times they are a-changing". Not only the title of this EP is bleak, but also the spirit of this rough Sludge/Post Rock/Metal mixture.
This EP consists of one electronic Intro, two tracks full of anger and hatred and two live versions of these tracks... that's all you need to be convinced that these guys really have something going.Especially these two live tracks show that these five guys from Nyköping, Sweden know what they are doing and what is even more important: one hears that what they do comes from the heart... and that's despite the inferior quality of these live recordings. I command you to listen to this!

Den Namenswechsel feiern die Texaner mit einer Vinyl-Neuauflage ihrer EP Little Brite, auf welcher 6 Tracks zu finden sind, die hoffnungsgeladener nicht sein könnten. Ihre Zutaten sind zwar leicht zu beschreiben: Akustische Gitarren, Violinen und Cellos, sowie massiver Elektro-Einsatz. Doch was am Ende herauskommt, wenn Sleep Whale loslegen, ist ein unbeschreiblicher Mix aus Lebensfreude, Ekstase und Entspannung.
Genauso schön wie das auf der Aufnahme klingt, kommt Sleep Whales Musik auch live rüber - ein echter Konzerttipp!

Given that most people might already recognize the cover above: Yes, Mom is now called Sleep Whale. The Texans celebrate the change of their name with a vinyl-edition of their EP Little Brite, which features 6 tracks that couldn't be filled with more hope. Their ingredients seem easy to describe at first: Acoustic guitars, violines and cellos, as well as massive electro-elements. But what comes out, as Sleep Whale are getting started, is an indescribable mix of joie de vivre, frenzy and relaxation.

Dresda, eine vierköpfige Band aus dem wunderschönen Genua in Italien, warten auf ihrer EP Pequod mit fünf eindrucksvollen Post-Rock Tracks auf und wecken mit ihnen Emotionen und Leidenschaft.
Sobald der EP eröffnende Drone mit fragilen Piano-Klängen überzogen wird, nur um kurz darauf von rückwärts abgespielten Gitarren unterbrochen zu werden, erahnt man bereits, wieviel Leidenschaft die Italiener in ihre Songs stecken. Im Labradford anmutenden zweiten Song, Il grande macchinario della notte, ist sich der Hörer dann sicher, dass diese Musik beim Einspieln auch wirklich gefühlt wurde. Die sehr starken Samples - kaum identifizierbare Geräusche - sind in den Songs derart gut platziert; sie wirken wie eigenständige Instrumente, die in entscheidenden Momenten aber immer wieder den melancholischen Melodien des Pianos und der Gitarren Platz machen.
Die gute halbe Stunde Laufzeit der EP ist alles in Allem ein relativ ruhiges Unterfangen. Fans der allseits bekannten melodischen Ausbrüche werden wohl eher enttäuscht werden, kommen Gitarrenverzerrung, druckvoller Bass und schnelles Drumming nur kurz bei L'eterno ritorno dell' uguale vor. Liebhaber von Ambient-mässigem Post-Rock hingegen, werden die wunderbaren Kompositionen verschlingen und gespannt auf weiteres Songmaterial hoffen, mit dem sie dann erneut in die traurig-schöne Welt italienischer Musikkunst eintauchen können.
On their EP Pequod Dresda, a four-piece band from the beautiful Genova, Italy, come up with five impressive post-rock tracks, awakening emotions and passion.
As soon as the EP-opening drone is coated by the fragile sounds of the piano, just to be interrupted by reversed guitars shortly afterwards, one might already feel how much passion the Italians have put into their songs. In the Labradford-like second track, Il grande macchinario della notte, the listener can then be sure, that the music was really felt in the moment of recording. The strong samples - hardly identifiable sounds - are placed in such a good way throughout the record; appearing as seperate instruments that still leave place for the melancholic melodies of the piano and guitars in crucial moments.
Altogether the half hour running time of the EP is a fairly tranquil affair. Fans of the known melodic outbursts might be dissapointed, as guitar distortion, punchy bass and fast drumming only appear shortly in L'eterno ritorno dell' uguale. Lovers of ambient-like post-rock however, will devour the compositions and hope eagerly for new songmaterial, with which they can again dive into the melancholic beauty of Italian music creation.

Es ist abend. Ein paar runtergekommene musikinteressierte Nerd-Zellen haben tatsächlich den Weg zur Location gefunden. Ein riesiges zweiköpfiges Erdmännchen – The Littlest Viking –betritt vollgepumpt mit Koffein, Adrenalin und Endorphinen die Bühne, um sich Gitarre und Schlagzeug zu schnappen. Flugs noch eine Flasche Selbstgebrautes reinhauen – der Zuschauer kann auf dem Schild die Worte PUNK, PROG, nochmal PUNK und JAZZ ausmachen – und BANG! schon geht’s los.

37 Minuten und 38 Sekunden später. Irre kichernd, zitternd und absolut orientierungslos kringeln sich die paar Gehirnzellen, die es nicht weggeblasen hat, auf dem Boden. Ewige Glückseligkeit weswegen? Wegen der unglaublich gut gelaunten Melodien, der wahnwitzigen Breaks, dem tighten Zusammenspiel des siamesischen Zwillings? Vermutlich alles zusammen. Zu einem solchen Regenbogen-Soundtrack gehört natürlich nicht nur die Sonnenseite des Lebens, sondern auch einige Regenschauer gesellen sich munter dazu um das Profil der wilden Nordmänner abzurunden. Man erkennt dennoch ein feistes Grinsen im Gesicht des zweiköpfigen Viechs, bevor die Band weiterzieht, ein anderes Gehirn in den wohlverdienten Wahnsinn zu schicken…

Evening. Actually, a handful of ragged, music-loving nerd-cells found their way to the location. A huge two-headed suricate, drugged up to the eyeballs with coffeine, adrenaline and endorphins – The Littlest Viking – enters the stage to pick up guitar and drums. Quickly drinking up their bottle of home-brewed – the audience can read the words PUNK, PROG, PUNK again and JAZZ on it – and BANG! let’s go.
Leap of time.
37 minutes and 38 seconds later. Gigging madly, shivering and without any orientation, those few cells that haven’t been blown away, a curling on the floor. Eternal happiness because of what? Because of the unbelievable good-humored melodies, the frenzied breaks, the tight play of the Siamese Twin? Probably all of it. Such a rainbow-colored soundtrack does not only consist of the sunny sides of life, there are also heavy rains to complete the profile of the wild norsemen. Nevertheless, one can see a smirk on the face of the two-headed monster, before the band pushes along, to send another brain into its well deserved madness…
Endlich. Silent Paper Radios auf Albumlänge. 11 Songs voller Liebe und Hingabe, ganz oft zwischen Melancholie und Hoffnung. Das mag jetzt pathetisch klingen, aber was uns Dan Gubbins alias Silent Paper Radios hier präsentiert, bedarf wirklich keiner anderen Beschreibung.
Nach der Review der „Reborn as a Wind Chime“ Demos vor ein paar Wochen, kontaktierte uns Dan - womöglich einer der nettesten Menschen auf der ganzen Welt - und fragte, ob wir nicht auch das Album, an dem er gerade arbeitete, rezensieren könnten. Aber natürlich. Diese wunderbare Musik, die einige ungerechterweise vielleicht als Hippiemusik bezeichnen würden, braucht definitiv mehr Aufmerksamkeit.
Finally, a whole album from Silent Paper Radios. 11 Songs, full of love and devotion, often between melancholy and hope. This might sound pathetic, but the music of Dan Gubbins- alias Silent Paper Radios- deserves no other description.
After the review of the „Reborn as a Wind Chime“-Demos a few weeks ago, Dan, probably one of the nicest persons in the whole world, got in contact with us and asked, whether we could review the album he was working on. Of course we could. This beautiful music, which some unfairly may call hippie music, definitely needs more attention.
pandoras.box sind ein 5-Mann Projekt aus Bayern. Die Jungs sind schon seit langer Zeit befreundet und haben mit pandoras.box eine Band entwickelt, die sich zwischen allen möglichen Kapiteln der experimentelleren Rockgeschichte zu bewegen scheint. Unmöglich alle Einflüsse aufzuzählen habe ich hier nur die allerwichtigsten erfasst, zu denen Indie, Post-Rock, Shoegaze, Folk, Alternative Rock und auch auch Progressive gehören. Die Büchse der Pandora ist eine Geschichte aus der griechischen Mythologie: Pandora öffnete die unheilvolle Büchse mit der neben allem Übel auch die Hoffnung die Welt ereilte. Und so hat auch pandoras.box zwei Seiten: Die poppige, ohrwurmige Seite, und dann diese experimentelle, post-rockige Seite.
Das Album Barriers beginnt mit elektronischen Drums auf a modarete Breeze, die wir von experimentellen Shoegaze Bands wie School of seven Bells kennen. Schliesslich kommt die Stimme von Sänger Martin dazu und das ganze wird etwas poppiger, mein erster Gedanke galt hier dem Genre Alternative Pop. Auf dieser musikgeschichtlichen Reise entdecken wir als zweiten Song This Tenderness, der zuerst etwas schwerverdaulich beginnt und dann mit einer Gesangsmelodie fortfahrt, die so unglaublich schön ist, dass es mir nach dem 20. Mal hören noch eiskalt den Rücken herab läuft. Dieser Song ist so fragil und so melodiös, dass mir der Atem für mehrere Sekunden stockt. Wir befinden uns nach This Tenderness auf einem melancholischen Trip Richtung Indie und einer erneut wunderbaren Gesangspassage, Keyboardharmonien und markantem Gitarrenspiel. Die nächsten Songs sind dann eher ruhig und haben mich hier und da sogar an Britpop erinnert. Next to Mine ist eine psychedelische Ballade, die sehr ruhig und ausgeglichen wirkt, wie zu hoffen kommt danach wieder mehr Härte ins Spiel und lockert die Platte erneut auf, was jetz mehr wie Post-Rock klingt war vorhin noch melodiöser Indie und dennoch erkennt man unter tausenden von Songs, dass genau DIESER von pandoras.box stammt ohne ihn zu kennen. Sight Unseen ist dann wieder ein Song der eher folkig balladesk beginnt, die akustische Gitarre wird durch Streichelemente ergänzt und bekommt dann durch diesen wunderschönen Gesang und die geniale Stimme Martins das gewisse Etwas. Später wird der Song noch durch E-Gitarren und das Schlagzeug komplettiert und ergibt wieder diese Britpop mässige Stimmung, die ich vorhing erwähnt habe. I don't care ist dann wieder ein etwas experimentellerer Track, der allerdings mit gewaltigem Ohrwurm potenzial aufwartet - ist wohl einer der ausdrucksstarksten Songs der Platte. Experimentell Post-Rockig geht es dann auch wieder weiter. Es bringt jedoch nichts wenn ich nun auch noch den kompletten zweiten Teil dieses Albums eingehend beschreibe, denn ein Hit jagt hier den nächsten!
pandoras.box strahlt eine Atmosphäre aus, die so einzigartig ist und so speziell, dass man sich eigentlich fragen muss, wieso diese Band noch nicht zu den ganz großen im Bereich der experimentellen Musik gehört. Sie hat genau das, was den meisten Bands heute nämlich fehlt, dieser Mut zu neuem, diese Kraft und Ausstrahlung. Kauft euch dieses Album, kauft es euch dreimal und versiegelt es in einem Safe - es ist einfach nur geil! Experimental post-rock is the sound of the next songs, but it doesn’t help you if I describe each song of the second part too, because one hit follows the next, just listen!
pandoras.box are a five piece band from Bavaria, Germany. Since a long time, the guys are good friends und developed in the name of pandoras.box a band, that moves between each possible chapter of rock-history. Impossible to mention all the influences of the band, I tried to mention some of the most ipmportant ones such as indie, post-rock, shoegaze, folk, alternative rock and also progressive rock. The box of Pandora is a tale from the Greek mythology: Pandora opened the box and with it, all the evil of the world came out, but also hope. It’s the same with pandoras.box, they have two sides: the pop-rock, catchy tune-side and the experimental and post-rock side.
The album Barriers starts with electronic drums on a moderate Breeze that we know from experimental shoegaze bands like School of seven Bells. Then, the voice of the vocalist Martin comes in and the whole thing gets a bit more like pop-rock, my first notion was something like alternative pop. On this music-historical voyage, we discover the second song This Tenderness, which has in the first part something that is hard to understand, but then, a vocal-melody starts that is so unbelievably beautiful. I start shivering even after the 20th time of listening. This song is so fragile and so melodic, that my breath stops for a few seconds. We’re now on a trip of melancholic indie – and again a wonderful vocal part, keyboard harmonies and catchy guitar playing. The next songs are calmer and sometimes remind me on something like Britpop. Next to mine is a psychedelic ballad, that is very calm and reasonable. But just as I longed for something heavier, it came. The next song keeps the whole album catchy, very good song order too. What now sounds more like post-rock, sounded like melodic indie before and still you recognize this under a million of tapes without listening to it before. Sight Unseen is a song that is more folkie and ballad-like , the acoustic guitar is completed by strings and after that, again a wonderful vocal part, perfected by Martins gorgeous voice. Guitars and drums come in too and create this Britpop feeling again. I don’t care is a more experimental track, though it has this catchy-tune effect too and is one of the most expressing songs of pandoras.box.

So beschreibt der Finne Bird From The Abyss die erste EP I. Diese Beschreibung trifft meiner Ansicht nach sehr schön auf die tatsächliche Klangkraft des Projektes zu. Bird From The Abyss vernetzt die endlose Weite der ambiental-elektronischen Musik mit einer romantischen Atmosphäre, einem dröhnenden Klang der Unterwelt und last but not least, wunderschön melancholischen Gitarrenklängen. Dieses Projekt bietet für jedes experimentell-orientierte Ohr etwas und vermag es, den Hörer in eine tiefe Stimmung der glückseeligen Melancholie zu befördern.
That's the way, the Finnish Bird From The Abyss describes its first EP I. This description fits very well with the real soundmight of this project, in my opinion. Bird From The Abyss link the endless range of ambiental-electronic music with a romantical atmsphere, a drony sound of the underworld and last but not least, a wunderful melancholic sound of an acoustic guitar. This project provides something for every openminded ear, and for every one who is into experimental, fuzzy music. The sound is able to throw the listener into a deep sense of blissy melancholy.

Für die, die trotzdem noch nie etwas davon gehört haben, hier eine kleine Biografie: Maudlin of the Well wurde 1996 gegründet und brachte bis zum Jahre 2001 drei offizielle Releases auf den Markt. Jetzt sind die Amerikaner aus Boston wieder zurück! Die Reunion Maudlin Of The Wells ist allerdings eine Geschichte für sich: 87 Fans erklärten sich bereit, Geld für die Produktion eines Reunion-Albums zu spenden und so sahen sich die Amis verpflichtet, dieses neue Werk aufzunehmen.
Die erste Veröffentlichung nach 8 Jahren unterscheidet sich in mehreren Belangen deutlich von den Vorgängern: 1. hebt sich das neue Album Part The Second stilistisch stark von den alten Alben ab und 2. ist das Album frei als Download erhältlich! Der Sound steht 2009 auf noch experimentelleren Beinen und kommt mehrheitlich vom progressiven Metal weg. Die Avant-Garde steht hierbei noch mehr im Vordergrund und wird durch neoklassische Elemente und Progressive Rock ergänzt.
Part The Second ist eines der originellsten Alben, das ich je gehört habe: Diesem avant-gardistisch spacigen Sound haftet etwas romantisches an, etwas klassisches und etwas, das mehr Wiedererkennungswert hat als die Stimme von Motörheads Lemmy, auch wenn dieser Vergleich vielleicht stilistisch nicht gerade einwandfrei ist. Der Sound ist definitiv nicht vorhersehbar und befindet sich oftmals zwischen einem musikgeschichtlichen Querschnitt von Avant-Garde, Prog Rock/Art Rock, Post-Rock und Klassik.

I guess I don't need to introduce Maudlin Of The Well because most lovers of experimental music do already know them. For those ones who don't, here's a short biography: Maudlin Of The Well were founded in 1996 and released three official recordings until 2001. Now, the three Americans from Boston are back! The reunion of Maudlin Of The Well is unique: 87 fans donated for the recording of a new album and so, Maudlin Of The Well felt bound to create this new release.
The first release after 8 years is clearly different to the forerunners: 1. the new album is stylistically very different to the others and 2. the album is available as a free download! The sound in 2009 is even more experimental and distances from the progressive metal elements. In the foreground is now the avant-gardistic sound that is completed by elements of classical music and progressive rock.
Part The Second is one of the most original albums I've ever heard: This avant-gardistic, spacy sound is completed by something romantical, something classical and something, that has more recognation value than the voice of Motörhead's Lemmy, although this comparison is not very representative. The sound is definitely not predictable and moves between a music-historical section of avant-garde, prog rock/art rock, post-rock and classical music.
